Statement

“My painting is rooted in my passion for color and my fascination with moving lines into shapes. I paint to recreate specific memories. My motivation when beginning a painting is to reinvent and exaggerate these recollections through color and geometry. I use preliminary drawings as a reference, and then reduce details to a minimum on canvas, allowing the image to resonate, and be open for exploration. The decisions I make are informed by light and shadow, and how these elements direct color relationships and compositions.”

Sharon Morrison received her BFA and MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. She lives and works in the beautiful state of Vermont.
